Pony Club Members Selected for Jockeys Skills Course
10 Pony Club Members representing Pony Club Branches from all over Ireland have been selected to take part in the Jockeys Skills Course taking place at RACE as part of the Irish Pony Club Race Day initiative, which is staged at the Curragh on Sunday 25th September
All participants will take part in a specially design course from the 23rd to 25th September. The overall winner, who will be announced at the race day, will receive one week of work experience at Michael Halford’s Cooper Beach Stables, a private jockey coaching session with a RACE Instructor and €250 voucher from TRI Equestrian

The objective of the Race Day and the Course is not only for the Curragh to showcase horse racing to Pony Club members from all over Ireland, but most importantly for the Pony Club to celebrate the end of their busy summer season with a fun and exciting day for all the family to enjoy.
The top class program of racing starting at 2.15pm features the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes (Group 2) and CL Weld Park Stakes (Group 3).
A packed program of entertainment during the afternoon will provide the Pony Club with the opportunity to highlight their various activities with presentations supported by TRI Equestrian to their winning teams, including Horse Trials, Hunter Trials, Mounted Games, Minimus, Tetrathlon, Show Jumping and Dressage taking place during the afternoon, while the winning National Musical Ride team from County Laois will perform on the track between races, while the team from the Island Branch will also perform .
There will be a national competition to have one of the races named after one of the Pony Club branches with details on the Irish Pony Club website, while members will be selected to present Turn-out prizes for certain races on the day. It is also planned to honour some former Pony Club members who have made a very successful career in horse racing.
All Under 16s and Pony Club Members will gain free admission to the races, while there will be special adult ticket offer of €8 which is available to purchased in advance from the Curragh racecourse by contacting Yvonne Coyle on 045 441205 email: racing@curragh.ie
