Naas Racecourse has won the Special Category Award for ‘Most Family Friendly’ racecourse, at this year’s Horse Racing Ireland (HRI) Awards at Leopardstown Racecourse, December 9th 2013. Selected by the Racegoers Consultative Forum based upon the best customer experience, the award was accepted by Naas Racecourse Marketing and PR Manager, Edel McCabe.
The Racegoers Consultative Forum is comprised of dedicated volunteers who attend race-meetings and write reports of their raceday experience. Naas continually upgrade their facilities so they are family friendly and family fun racedays are a cornerstone of their fixtures calendar.
Local family day sponsors, the Monread Shopping Centre, have been particularly involved this year and Andrew Mc Vea, Regional Centre Manager said: “We are delighted Naas have received this award. It is testament to the hard work and dedication the team at Naas put into building the racecourse as a family friendly destination. Our sponsorship of the Family Days at Naas has worked extremely well. Naas is our local racecourse, it is a natural fit for the centre and we look forward to improving the family days in 2014.”
Edel Mc Cabe, Marketing & P.R. Manager of Naas Racecourse said: “The Award was a great shock for us on Monday. Families are key to any racecourse and we do our upmost to cater for their enjoyment. The Award comes at an opportune time as we look to improve our family offering considerably with plans for new crèche facilities at every raceday.”
Michael O’Rourke, HRI Director of Marketing and Communications said: “Creating a welcome for families is an extremely important part of a racecourse’s strategy. A day at the races is a wonderful day out for all of the family and it’s important for racecourses to provide entertainment for children alongside and between races. The management and staff at Naas Racecourse are very deserving of this award. They cater for children very well and arrange regular family racedays packed full of entertainment.”
