Horse Racing Ireland and Punchestown racecourse today announced that the 2015 Punchestown Festival will take place from Tuesday 28th April to Saturday 2nd May.
The festival week will correspond with this year’s event and will commence on the final Tuesday of April and run for five days into the May bank holiday weekend. The festival will take place a full six weeks after Cheltenham and over two weeks after Aintree and Fairyhouse offering a decent break for horses that will compete.
Three weeks ago the record breaking Punchestown festival got underway with a massive opening day crowd and concluded with the highest ever attendance of 106,689. The fifth and final day attracted the largest attendance for the first time with a massive 29,042 people coming through the turnstiles.
Punchestown General Manager Dick O’Sullivan said “There are two key factors we must consider when looking at the festival dates each year. The suitability for the horses that will run here and the suitability for the people who will come to see them race. The calls are coming through already with enquiries for next year, so we are grateful to HRI for confirmation of our 2015 Festival dates at this stage”.
O’Sullivan continued “There is a decent break between Easter and the festival for 2015 and the fact that we run into the bank holiday suits a lot of people who can take a long weekend and come racing for a couple of days of it! Hopefully we will get the same brilliant support we got this year for our next festival”
